Mandy (Buttry ’99) and Matt Poulter ’99 adopted a boy on May 9. He is 3, and his name is Shay Alan. He was welcomed home by big brother Ethan, 4, and little sister Whitley, 3. Matt is the production manager at Pella Corporation in Shenandoah, Iowa. Mandy coaches girls’ track, also in Shenandoah, where the family lives.

  Heather (Kelley ’97) and Mike Tupa ’96 became the proud parents of Kip Joseph Tupa in October 2003. The family lives in Omaha.

  Carmen (Toel ’96) McNaughton and her husband, Aaron, welcomed a baby girl, Lillian Rose, on Feb. 23. Lillian Rose weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 inches long.

  Lora Rennau ’90, right, visited Jun Lyneborg (Jorgensen) Christiansen, left, in Jun’s home at Hillerod, Denmark, last summer. Jun was a student at Dana in 1987–88. She is married to Kenneth and has two sons, Jacob and Oliver. Lora lives in Boulder, Colo.

Heather Wonders ’03 married Jeremy Busselman on June 12 in Omaha. Heather is attending the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s counseling graduate program.

Tyler Neal ’02 married Elizabeth Kramer on June 5 in Blair. Tyler works at Cargill North American Sweetners in Blair as a quality assurance chemist.

Theresa (Soby ’02) and Trey Scholl ’01 have received new jobs. Trey graduated from the Sheriff’s Academy in Tampa, Fla., and is working as a sheriff for the Hillsborough County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office. Theresa is a kindergarten teacher at Chiles Elementary in Tampa. The couple lives in Wesley Chapel, Fla.

Adam Christensen ’01 was cast as an extra in the upcoming feature film, “Friday Night Lights.” Adam plays both Player 25 and Player 5 in the movie based on the best-selling book and starring Billy Bob Thornton and Tim McGraw. Adam lives in Des Moines, Iowa.

Rachel (Herman ’01) and Justin Dannelly ’01 live in Dakota City, Neb. Justin coaches and teaches at Homer (Neb.) Schools. Rachel works for Great West Casualty Co. as an underwriting specialist.

Michaela (Kibbon ’01) and Jeff Hume ’99 welcomed a boy, Lance, on Jan. 24, 2003. Jeff is an athletic trainer at OrthoWest Orthopaedics contracted to Dana. Michaela is a chemist at Purac America in Blair.

Jeret Pospeshil ’01 moved to Rapid City, S.D. in April and works as a health care representative with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Amber (Weber ’00) Beals graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center on May 14 with a doctorate of pharmacy. She has accepted a one-year pharmacy residency position at Florida Hospital Celebration Health in Orlando.

Jessica Clark ’00 received her master of social work degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha on May 7. She is working as a day treatment therapist for the Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Healthcare in Grand Island, Neb.

Jennifer (Williams ’00) Formo was promoted in February to community director at the March of Dimes in Madison, Wis.

Cody Franzen ’00 married Melissa Paulman on June 26 in Grand Island, Neb. Cody teaches at Barr Middle School in Grand Island.

Scott Heiss ’00 married Stacy Becker on May 29 in Omaha. Scott works at ADT in Omaha.

Ben Thompson ’00 married Katie Bohon on June 12 in Sedalia, Mo. Ben is a driver and merchandiser for the Budweiser County Distributing plant in Sedalia.

Rachel (Heitmann ’99) Cunningham and her husband, Michael, welcomed their first child, Kathrynn Elisabeth, on April 1. Rachel teaches at LeMars (Iowa) Community High School. The family lives in LeMars.

Nikki Kinsey ’99 had her business, Sol Chicks Design, featured in the April edition of One Magazine. Sol Chicks is an ebusiness, found at www.solchicks.com. Nikki lives in Omaha.

Nathan Olsen ’99 is a computer programmer in Olympia, Wash., where he lives with his wife, Diep.

Deneen Schriver ’99 married Joshua Kelly on June 19 in Albion, Neb. Deneen works at the Metabolic Research Center in Denver, Colo., where the couple lives.

Benjamin Tams ’99 married Stacey Grindle on Aug. 7 in Omaha. Benjamin is a loan officer at Mortgage Express in LaVista, Neb.

Michael Babbitt ’98 married Carrie Vincent on July 10 in York, Neb. Michael is an export manager with Expeditors International in Kansas City, Mo.

Matt Haufle ’98 will attend Fordham University Law School in New York this fall.

Anna (Hovde ’98) Hurm and her husband, Travis, welcomed a baby boy, Braik Hunter, on May 16. The family lives in Gillette, Wyo.

Taffy (Forsen ’98) Jones, was profiled in the Blair Pilot-Tribune in their “Teacher Feature” column. Taffy teaches kindergarten in Herman, Neb. She lives with her husband, Luke, and their children, Treyton, 2, and Lexington, 1, in Blair.

Caid Christiansen ’97 married Nichole Elkins on July 23 in Elkhorn, Neb. Caid is president of Christiansen Design, Inc., an advertising company in Omaha, where the couple lives.

Tim Marsden ’97, director of the Millard (Neb.) South High School Choir, has had his choir recognized has one of the best 100 high school choirs in Nebraska.

Clint Williams ’97 married Becky Thompson on June 5 in Blair. Clint is a sales representative at Woodhouse Dodge-Chrysler in Blair.

Debi (Moore ’96) Redmon received a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha on May 5.

Marcus Albers ’95 married Emily Bush on May 1 in Dubuque, Iowa. Marcus is an information technology support specialist at Carlisle Communications, Ltd., in Dubuque.

Sue (Cass) Connealy ’95 was featured in a “Teacher Feature” in the Burt County (Neb.) Plaindealer. Sue is a special education teacher at Tekamah (Neb.) Elementary.

Joei (Arens ’94) and Todd Harris ’93 are proud to announce the birth of their son, Cody Michael, and daughter, Kayla Marie. The twins were born June 15 in Omaha. Cody weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and Kayla weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces. They join a sister, Emma. The family lives in Omaha.

Vicki Behrends ’94 married Dan Manning on April 24 in Auburn, Neb. Vicki works at Humboldt (Neb.) Implement Co. Inc. as a bookkeeper. The couple lives in Humboldt.

Stacey (Harris ’94) and Mike Maxwell ’93 live in Hutchinson, Kan., with their two children, CheyAnne, 9, and Dalton, 2. Stacey is an independent licensed agent with Aflac. Mike is the operations manager with Lowe’s in Hutchinson.

Matthew Schmidt ’94 and his wife, Carla, welcomed their second son, Broc, on April 14. Broc joins his brother, Rian, 3. The family lives in Morton, Ill.

Cameron Arthur ’93 recently retired from 17 years of law enforcement to dedicate more time to teaching on the college level and pursue a law or doctoral degree. He lives in Ralston, Neb.

Sarah Martin ’93 works at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis., where she lives.

Pam Shelton ’93 is the executive assistant for Rod Christenson ’70 at Mid America Computer Corp. in Blair.

Randall Hollowell ’90 works in the information technology services department at Miami (Ohio) University, where he is also an instructor in the Interactive Media Studies program. He lives in Oxford, Ohio.

Denise Hunter ’89 was featured in the Burt County (Neb.) Plaindealer’s “Teacher Feature” column on April 21. Denise teaches special education at Tekamah (Neb.) Elementary.

Laurie Christensen ’88 works for Unisource as a paper specification sales representative for central Texas. She was voted Ad Woman of the Year in 2003 and Best Paper Rep for six years in a row by the Austin (Texas) Ad Federation. She has been a member of the Austin Ad Fed Board since 1998. She lives in Round Rock, Texas, with her husband, Steve, and children, Ty, 12, and Kimberly, 5.

Steve Meister ’88 is leaving the U.S. Navy after seven years of active duty military service. He is moving on to become a family physician at Affiliated Community Medical Centers in Marshall, Minn. His wife, Karen, and children, Noah, 6, and Sydney, 4, moved to Marshall earlier to set up the family’s new home.

Julia (Schroeder ’87) Macek lives in Wade, Maine, with her husband, Dave, and their children, stepson Eric, 17, Kristin, 7, and Aaron, 3. Julia is a clinical supervisor for Wings for Children and Families, which is a target case management agency.

Edward Kaspar ’84 was promoted to vice president at Physicians Mutual Insurance Company of Omaha. Edward oversees the claim services division.

Renae Claussen ’81 was the recipient of the Denison (Iowa) Leading Women in Business Award in 2004, presented by the Denison Chamber of Commerce. Renae owns and manages a local cable channel, Channel 18, in Denison, where she lives.

Mogens Knudsen ’81 was featured in the Lexington (Neb.) Clipper-Herald in a story about how he promotes community and family through his Sav-A-Lot store in Lexington. Mogens got into the grocery business through his wife, Sally (Miller ’81) Knudsen, whose father ran a store.

70s

Kevin Barratt ’79 will start as the new drama teacher at Benson High School in Omaha this fall.

Jeanette (Renander ’74) Rhyan was installed as president of the Theta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Key Women Educators in the spring. She is also serving on the state level as a member of the Program of Work Committee. Jeanette teaches health, physical education and journalism at Ousley Junior High School in Arlington, Texas. She lives in Fort Worth, Texas.

John Christensen ’71 was inducted to the Millard (Neb.) Public Schools Foundation Hall of Fame in May. John is vice chancellor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Art Beckman ’70 was elected testing chair of the Nebraska chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German in April. Art teaches at Northwest High School in Omaha.

Charlie Rohlfing ’70 retired this spring after 27 years as a counselor at Elkhorn (Neb.) High School. Charlie is now looking forward to being a counselor at Omaha Benson High School. His wife, Julie (Thorson) Rohlfing ’70, is director of alumni affairs at Dana. The couple lives in Blair.

Timothy Wiggins ’70 accepted the call to become director of pastoral care at Tabitha Health Care in Lincoln, Neb. As director, Timothy will coordinate the pastoral care program in giving spiritual support to Tabitha clients and their loved ones.

60s

Roger Eitzmann ’67 ran for Fremont (Iowa) County Supervisor in the June primary as a Republican and won. Roger and his wife, Barbara, live in Sidney, Iowa.

Tim Wright ’67 is celebrating 25 years as a contract administrator with the Boeing Company. He is also a third-year student at St. Louis (Mo.) University School of Law, where he received an Academic Achievement Award in Trial Advocacy. Tim lives in Alton, Ill.

Joan (Rathe ’63) Barnes retired from teaching after 35.5 years. She taught for one year in Filley, Neb., 1.5 years in the Omaha Public Schools and 30 years in Atlantic, Iowa, where she now lives.

Sharol (Crandall ’61) and Ernie Anderson ’59 have moved to Yorkville, Ill., to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They are building a new home.

Carol Petersen ’60 recently had five hymns published in the new Episcopal hymn supplement “Voices Found: Women in the Church’s Song.” In the spring of 2003, Carol visited Ethiopia. The tour group observed a leper colony, a school for the blind, Fistula Hospital, a mentoring group, and Hope Enterprises, which educates and feeds the abandoned youth culture and street people. Since her trip, Carol has been active in the International Community of Phoenix, assisting in the founding of AMEN, an international bimonthly prayer meeting and international worship gathering in the East Valley, Arizona.

Deaths

Cynthia (Michels ’71) Arnold died March 16 in Blair. Cynthia was a nurse’s aide at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair and Tekamah (Neb.) Nursing Home. In a decade’s time, she took in more than 20 foster children. Survivors include her husband, David, two daughters, one son and one grandchild.

Gloria Daggett ’69 died July 10, 2003, due to complications following a massive stroke. Survivors include her mother, Rhoda (Hansen ’43) Daggett, and brother, Roger Daggett ’67.

Marvel Christensen ’66 died April 24 in Oakland, Neb. Marvel was an elementary teacher for 30 years in Burt, Dodge, Washington, Cuming and Keya Paha counties of Nebraska. She served as church pianist and Sunday school teacher for the First Congregational Church/United Church of Christ in Uehling, Neb., for many years.

Eunice (Erickson ’66) Houston died Feb. 20 in Minnesota. Eunice taught elementary school for 31 years in Racine, Wis. and Pine City, Minn. Survivors include her husband, Rick Houston ’66, two children and one grandchild.

Kaye (Dirgo ’43) Woodring died April 19 in Pattonsburg, Mo. Kaye was a cook for the Pattonsburg school system and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Crossroads Community Club of Pattonsburg. Survivors include four daughters, one son, 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a sister and two brothers.

Clarence Paulsen D ’40 T ’43 died May 12 in Sacramento, Calif. Clarence served congregations in Neola, Iowa; Kansas City, Kan.; Toronto, Canada; and Ontario, Calif. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and building. Survivors include his wife, Beverly, two brothers, seven children, including Ivan Paulsen ’68, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Eda (Paulsen ’29) Panum died April 8 in Eugene, Ore. Eda worked in the nursing field from 1929 until 1940, when she became a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed tatting, reading and working around her home. Survivors include two sons, Philip Panum ’64 and Paul Panum ’67, two brothers, a sister and four grandchildren.

Friends

Ruth Nielsen died May 12 in Omaha. A retired teacher, Ruth served for many years as chairwoman of the board for the Oaks Indian Center, translated Danish works into English for the Danish Immigrant Archives and was a Dana Builder. She held a doctoral degree and was named the Omaha Business and Professional Women’s Club’s outstanding woman in 1967.

In the Winter 2004 DANA REVIEW, we mistakenly included Alvina Blaikie as a memorium for 2003. We should have stated that it was Elton Blaikie, Alvina’s husband, who was named in the memorium.
