Lewis & Clark Visit the Hill

Just in time for Nebraska’s only Signature Event in the national celebration of the anniversary of Lewis and Clark’s historic exploration, Corps of Discovery II, an interactive experience put on by the National Park Service in cooperation with many agencies, set up shop in Dana’s Gardner-Hawks parking lot.

At press time, the exhibit was still being set up in preparation for five days of free family entertainment sure to bring hundreds of people to Blair.

Corps II is named after the 1803-06 “Corps of Volunteers for Northwestern Discovery.” Corps II opened at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello near Charlottesville, Virginia, on Jan. 14, 2003. Corps II is a mobile exhibit designed to provide visitors an introduction to the Lewis and Clark story, including the natural history, cultural resources and the people of our nation before, during and after the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

A special shuttle service ran from Fort Calhoun, Neb., the site of the main festival, to the Dana campus for those who wished to partake of the whole historic experience.
