MATCHING GIFT PROGRAM BENEFITS DANA

Friends of Dana College can increase their gifts to the college through the GivingPlus program of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Starting in January 2003, Thrivent matches 50 cents for every dollar given by members to Lutheran nonprofit organizations, such as Dana College, for gifts from $50 to $400. For example, a friend of Dana College who is a policyholder with Thrivent and gives $400 to Dana will see another $200 given to the school through the GivingPlus Program.

Associate Thrivent members can have their gifts matched 50 cents per dollar on gifts given from $50 to $100. Thrivent will make matching gifts to up to two Lutheran institutions per member per year.

Members of Thrivent must be age 16 or older and demonstrate a Lutheran connection. This includes not only members of Lutheran congregations, but also alumni and current students of Lutheran colleges or universities, parents of students of Lutheran educational institutions, employees of Lutheran organizations and residents of Lutheran care centers.

Thrivent was created in January 2002 by the merger of Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) and Lutheran Brotherhood (LB), forming the largest fraternal benefit society in the United States.

Last year, more than $117,000 was given to Dana College from AAL and LB through their member gift matching and scholarship programs. Since the inception of matching gifts, the two organizations have combined to give more than $2 million to Dana College.
