UELC TO HOLD 2004 REUNION
A United Evangelical Lutheran Church Reunion will
be held June 11-13 at Dana. This event is the 19th such gathering
of former UELC laity and clergy. In 2002, the group gathered at
Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.
The program will center on the past and present of
two former UELC missions: Santal Mission in India and Oaks Indian
Mission (now Oaks Indian Center) in Oklahoma.
Dana Professor
John Mark Nielsen ’73 and his wife, Dawn (Carper
’74) Nielsen will speak on the Danish Trading Colonies and
their encounter with India when John Mark was a Senior Fulbright
Lecturer in American Literature in 2000. Dr. Edward A. Hansen D
’39 T ’42 will share Santal Mission mementos from his
travels and term on the mission’s board.
Former Oaks Indian Mission Board member Phil Larsen
’49 and current member Gene Meyer will present information
on the Oklahoma mission.
Those arriving on Friday are invited to gather for
coffee at 3 p.m. in The Forum of the Margre Henningson Durham Center.
The Rev. Bonnie (Hagedorn ’70) Jensen will preach on Sunday
and the Rev. Ried Neve D ’48 T ’51 will preside.
