ACCREDITATION

The Dana College Social Work Program has been accredited at the baccalaureate level by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) since 1986. This accreditation is extremely important for students for several reasons. First, it means that our graduates are qualified to become Certified Social Workers (the baccalaureate level certification) in Nebraska. This certification is required for many jobs, and it gives the graduate a tremendous boost in finding good positions.

Graduating from an accredited social work program also prepares one for entering a master’s degree program in social work. Dana College BSW graduates are eligible for advanced standing status in most social work graduate programs. Advanced standing status significantly shortens the time required to earn the M.S.W.

Social work programs accredited by Council on Social Work Education are based upon CSWE’s Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards, which outline the standards for accredited programs. A copy of the EPAS may be found in the Appendix of this Handbook.
