Professor of Social Work and Social Work Program Director. B.A., 1963, University of Nebraska at Lincoln; M.S.W., 1966, University of Nebraska at Lincoln. At Dana since 1980. Experience in community development in Colombia, South America, through the Peace Corps; work with Hispanic migrant farm workers; multicultural social work in inner city community centers; play therapy with children; family therapy; and group therapy with sexually abused children. Teaches Introduction to Social Work, Cultural Diversity, Social Work Practice II, Integrative Seminar, Human Behavior and Spiritual Development, and Contemporary Latino Cultures and Issues.


RICHARD POTTER LCSW, ACSW (Phone: 426-7242)

Associate Professor of Social Work. Social Work Practicum Director. B.A., 1967, Carroll College; M.S.W., 1971, Tulane University. At Dana since 1984. Experience in juvenile probation; child welfare; individual, marriage, and family therapy in community mental health settings; and consultation with community agencies. Teaches Human Behavior and the Social Environment I and II, Introduction to the Political Economy, Marriage and the Family, Social Work Practice Theory and Methods I, Social Work Practicum I and II and Field Seminar.


JO PETERSON, MSW (Phone: 426-7306)

Assistant Professor of Social Work. B.S.W., 1996, University of Nebraska at Omaha; M.S.W., 1998, University of Nebraska at Omaha. At Dana since 2002. Experience incommunity organizing, policy analysis and political advocacy; community based needs assessment, research, program planning, evaluation, grant writing and review; basic mediation and community oriented problem solving; director youth care; crisis intervention and supervision; domestic violence services for victims and perpetrators. Teaches Experience in Human Services; Human Behavior in the Social Environment III; Social Work Practice III; Social Welfare Policy and Services; Methods of Behavioral Research; Conflict Resolution, Mediation and Restorative Justice; and Introduction to Women’s Studies.

Adjunct Professor in Education and Social Work. B.S., 1970, University of North Texas State; M.S., 1974, Southern University; Ph.D., 1995, University of Nebraska.-Lincoln. At Dana since 1996. Experience and research in multicultural education, science education, equity training, and learning styles of minority students. Teaches African American Experience.


WYNEMA MORRIS, M.S. (Phone: 426-7339)


Adjunct Professor of Social Work. B.S., Northern Arizona University; M.S.W., Northern Arizona University. Experience in administration of Omaha Tribal Offices, past member of Omaha Tribal Council, consultant for American Indian tribes, speaker for Nebraska Council of the Humanities. At Dana since 1998. Teaches Native American Studies.
