RESEARCH ASSIGNMENTS

Practicum II (SW 441) students are expected to evaluate their own practice throughout their practicum experience. This involves being able to use appropriate research methods to assess the usefulness of their interventions. The practicum instructor should be aware that the students will be formally evaluating their own practice and may wish the students to share their findings as part of the supervision process. The students will be reporting on this process in the field seminar. For a more complete picture of the type of research used in the evaluation of one’s own practice please refer to the appendices.

Students will also have the option to conduct research useful to the agency as part of their practicum project, as described in the practicum syllabus located in the appendices of this manual. It is hoped that the agency will make good use of the opportunity to have students conduct research which might be useful for planning or other administrative tasks.
