Dana is
Coaches’ Pick to Win GPAC Softball Title in 2007
(Sioux City, IA) – Dana
College, GPAC regular and postseason softball champions in 2006, is the
coaches’ pick to win the 2007 title. The Vikings, who went 43-10
overall and 20-2 in the conference last spring, received 143 points and
11 first place votes in the balloting of the 13 league coaches.
Northwestern (36-15, 17-5 in 2006) is tabbed second in the league with
129 points and one first place vote. The other first place vote went to
Morningside (42-15, 18-6 last year) who was picked third in the
preseason poll with 122 points.
The GPAC softball season
will once again consist of 24 games and conclude with the GPAC
Postseason Tournament on May 3-4 at the SYA Softball Complex in Sioux
City, Iowa. The NAIA Region III Tournament will be hosted by the Dakota
Athletic Conference at a site TBD on May 9-11.
Points were assigned on a
12-1 basis and coaches’ could not vote for their own team.
