Dana Softball Struggles vs. Bobcats; Splits with Northwestern 

March 13-14, 2007, Blair, NE—The Dana Softball team lost a pair of games to Peru State on Tuesday in Blair.  The Vikings fell 9-1 and 6-4.

In game one, the Vikings were only able to manage four hits.  Josie Barrow (JR, Woodward, IA) took the loss for Dana.  Heather Parsons (SO, Ottumwa, IA) and Maggie Downs (JR, St. Charles, IA) each had two hits for the Vikings in game two.  Christa Backus (JR, Newton, IA) also went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.

On Wednesday, the Vikings split a double-header with Northwestern College losing the first game 8-4 and winning game two 11-2.  Dana committed two costly first inning errors in game one which led to an early 4-0 deficit from which the Vikings were never able to recover.  The Vikings game two victory was highlighted by a Beth Richmond (SO, Chariton, IA) game-ending home run.

The 6-6 Vikings travel to California for 11 games next week during spring break.
