Blair, Nebraska ~ The Dana College Softball team announced Thursday their first four signings of their 2007 recruiting class.

Included in the class is Whitney Newsham of Ashland, Nebraska. Newsham is a utility player from Ashland High School. Shaelyn Dokmonovich is a utility player from Omaha, Nebraska. Dokmonovich is a senior at Omaha North High School. Brittany Schuller is a pitcher and first baseman from Columbus, Nebraska. Schuller is a senior at Lakeview High School. Erica Miller is a pitcher and utility player from Wahoo, Nebraska. Miller is a senior at Wahoo High School.

All four players are local Nebraska players. The Vikings are early in their recruiting process and are looking to finish their recruiting class for 2007 in the upcoming weeks, with some local and some out of state standouts as well.  

“ This might be the most versatile group of young ladies we have brought in so far,” commented Head Coach Marcy Roff. “Each of them has the ability to play multiple positions, not to mention they are a very quick group as a whole.” 

The coaching staff is excited to get this class on campus and see what they can do. According to Coach Roff this class should make an impact on this program right away. “We have a feeling that they will buy into our core values quickly. If that happens, they will be a phenomenal class!” added Roff.

Last season, the Vikings finished 43-10 overall and 20-2 in the GPAC. Dana won the regular and past season titles. Coach Roff advanced to the regional tournament before bowing out to Valley City State. Roff is entering her fourth season at the helm of the Viking ship.
