Sports/GPAC Softball Weekly Honors Announced
(Sioux City, IA) – The Great Plains
Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to
announce the following softball player and pitcher-of-the-week for April
2 –April 8, 2007. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of
the 2006-2007 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and
Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
The following are the GPAC weekly honorees for
April 2 – April 8 (week four):

Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Weekly Honors
Pitcher – Cassie Lager, Dana
Dana pitcher Cassie Lager is the Hauff
Mid-America Sports Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week. Lager, a junior from
Missouri Valley, Iowa, picked up win and a save on the week as the
Vikings went 2-0. In a 10-1 victory over Sioux Falls she struck out 12
and walked only one. In her save she pitched one inning and struck out
the side. For the week she allowed no earned runs as Dana improved to
17-12.
Player- Klancy Nixon,
Nebraska Wesleyan
Nebraska Wesleyan shortstop Klancy Nixon is the Hauff
Mid-America Sports Softball Player-of-the-Week. Nixon, a junior from
Norfolk, Nebraska, posted a .667 batting average with a slugging
percentage of 1.417. For the week she totaled six RBI’s, two homeruns,
while going 8-12 at the plate. Nixon reached base at least twice in
each of the four NWU games and scored eight runs. In the field she was
13-13 on fielding chances. The Prairie Wolves are now 10-6 on the
season.
