Vikings Sweep Mt. Marty

April 23, 2007—The Dana Vikings softball team swept a doubleheader from Mt. Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota, on Monday winning 9-1 and 13-0.

            Dana starting pitcher Josie Barrow (JR, Woodward, IA) only gave up one run in five innings to earn the win in game one.  Barrow also went 5 for 5 at the plate at the Vikings pounded out 14 hits.

            Lindy Bohlman (SO, Denison, IA), Christa Backus (JR, Newton, IA), and Maggie Downs (JR, St. Charles, IA) all had two hits for the Vikings in game one.

            In game two, Cassie Lager (JR, Missouri Valley, IA) pitched five shutout innings as the Vikings tallied 11 hits and scored 13 runs.  Bohlman had two more hits including a home run.  Bohlman also had five RBI’s.  Barrow, Downs, and TJ Beeman (JR, Grimes, IA) also had two hits for Dana.

            Dana raised their Great Plains Athletic Conference leading record to 15-1.  The Vikings are 28-13 overall and rated second in their region.
