Home > Student Handbook > Campus Services > COMMUNICATIONS CENTER

This area handles three major functions – Information Center, Campus Post Office, Switchboard/Telephone Service. The following presents pertinent information regarding each area.

Information Desk
The Information Desk acts as the central point for collecting and distributing relevant campus information, such as campus telephone listings, faculty office locations, class cancellations, parking permits, etc. The Information Desk also has responsibilities for approving signs to be posted on campus.

Switchboard/Telephone Services

All questions and problems regarding telephone service should be directed to the Communications Center Coordinator, who is the liaison between Dana College and the Blair Telephone Company.
All on-campus extensions can be reached by dialing the 4-digit extension number. To call off-campus one must first dial "9" and wait for a second dial tone. For long distance, students may use calling cards. Calling cards may be purchased at the Dana Bookstore.

Campus Post Office
Each full-time student is assigned her/his own personal campus mailbox. Part-time students are not assigned a mailbox, but may request one from the Information Desk. Students should use their campus mail box number when giving information regarding their campus address. Not including Dana College and your mail box number on correspondence will slow down the delivery of mail.

Mail sent from off-campus to Dana College students should be addressed as follows:

Name
Dana College, Box No. XXX
2848 College Dr.
Blair, NE 68008

Mail sent via intra-campus mail should always have the name of the student and their campus mail box number.

Mail is distributed Monday-Saturday during the school year. Students receiving packages too large for their mailbox are given package notices. The packages may be picked up at the Information Desk window during open hours.

Outgoing mail leaves the campus at 4:15 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Unless otherwise directed, all mail is held during breaks. During the summer, all First-Class mail is forwarded. Magazines are forwarded for 60 days. After 60 days, magazines will be disposed of unless directed otherwise.

Packages may be sent from the Information Desk via United Parcel Services (UPS) Monday-Friday. Also, first-class postage stamps may be purchased at the Information Desk.
