Dana College is a residential institution. Consequently, life in the residence halls is a major portion of the life on campus. The Residence Life Staff directed by the Dean of Students and staffed by the Director of Residence Life, Area Hall Directors, Assistant Hall Directors, and Resident Assistants is a component of the college's Student Life Office. Residence Life's primary responsibility is helping residents obtain the greatest value from the residential experience. The staff offers assistance with personal questions or problems; interpreting, communicating, and enforcing college policy; providing hall programming; advising students on academic and social concerns; and helping with the security and safety of living areas.

The residence halls at Dana are viewed as living-learning environments. Residence Life works in cooperation with the educational mission of the college to provide learning experiences that students might otherwise not receive in the classroom.

It is essential that all members of the Dana community share a common concern for the individual person and his/her personal development, as well as for creating an environment in which learning and the advancement of knowledge is preeminent. All must understand that each member of the community has certain rights and responsibilities, and that those rights and responsibilities are fundamental to this community. Consequently, every member of the college community is expected to recognize and respect the principles described in this document.

A student's membership in the college community is a privilege, not a right. Continued membership in the community is earned by student behavior and performance both in and out of the classroom. The following policies are designed to assist with maintaining a positive living-learning environment. All Dana College students and their guests are expected to follow these policies.
