The
Dana College Musical Theater major may be just the opportunity
you were looking for!
The Dana College Musical Theater major
is nearly unique in the Midwest. Our program is one of only
two in the state of Nebraska
(the University of Nebraska-Kearney is the other) and one of
only five in states contiguous to Nebraska.
The major in Musical Theater allows talented students the opportunity
to develop their performing skills while majoring in another
discipline that may provide career alternatives.
A minor in theater arts is selected by students from a wide
variety of majors and is recommended for anyone who is planning
to continue performing on either the community or professional
level, is preparing to teach literature, history, religion, psychology,
sociology, art and/or music, is seeking a career in interacting
with the public and/or continuing their education in graduate
school.
The faculty consists of active performers in the Omaha area,
including OE Award
nominee Dr. Paul Schneider and renowned dancer, teacher and
choreographer Michelle Garrity.
- Dana College is not your typical
small college theater. Our performers have the opportunity
to be on stage as many as five
times a year.
- Students receive a BA degree, making them
considerably more marketable upon graduation than students
graduating
from BFA
programs.
- Scholarships are available for committed
students. The ability to read vocal music is required.
- Auditions
may be scheduled at any time through the Dana College Admissions
Office, 402-426-7222 or 800-444-DANA.
