Dana Track Athletes Set Records at Doane

April 21 and 22, 2007—Dana track athletes competed at the Doane Relays on Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22.

            Santana Hildebrand (SO, West Des Moines, IA) set the school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 127’6”.  Hildebrand, who beat the old mark by two inches, also had the best finish of the day for the Dana women finishing second in the women’s discus with a toss of 136’5”.

            In the running events, Nichelle Kimbrough (SR, Highland, KS) finished fourth in the 400 meter hurdles while Amy Jackman (SO, Seward, NE) finished fifth in the same event.  The Dana 4 X 800 meter relay team also ran a season best time of 10:48.13.

            On the men’s side, Andrew Hawley (FR, Lincoln, NE) finished first in the 200 meter dash and fourth in the 100 meter dash setting personal records in both events.  Hawley ran 22.27 in the 200 and 11.08 in the 100.

            Personal records were set by Roger Goff (SO, Missouri Valley) in the javelin finishing fourth at 127’7” and the shot put at 46’6”.  Cale Deardorff (FR, Yale, IA) set a personal record in the discus for the second week in a row with a toss of 140”4” finishing eighth.  Robert Fowler (JR, Bellevue, NE) set a personal record in the 100 meters finishing one spot behind Hawley with a time of 11.08.

            Also, the Dana men’s 4 X 100 meter relay team finished with a season best mark of 43.46 to finish 3rd.

            The Vikings will next be in action in Indianola, Iowa, on April 27, at the Kip Janvrin Open.
