Magorian and Hawley Lead Vikings
Lincoln, Nebraska ~ The Dana College track
team traveled to the Prairie Wolf Invitational at the Bob Daveney Center
in Lincoln on Saturday. The young Viking squad was matched up against
teams from Wayne State, UNK, UNO, Nebraska, and Chadron State, along
with many other Midwestern teams.

moved her into the top ten of the conference. She also placed 15th
in the shot put with a throw of 38 feet 8.25 inches. Jennifer
Anderson (JR, Lincoln, NE) placed tenth in the 5000 meter run with a

ten in the conference performance chart.
Pat Magorian (FR, Crofton, NE) placed sixth
in the weight throw with a toss of 44 feet 2.25 inches. The distance
set a new mark in the men’s weight throw and bested his throw of last
week by two feet. George Drinnin (FR, Omaha, NE) placed 12th
in the weight throw with a toss of 40 feet 9 inches. This set his
personal best in the event. Andrew Hawley (FR, Lincoln, NE)
placed 35th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.19
seconds. Despite the placing, Hawley set his personal best in the
event.
“Overall this was a great effort by our team, with
several athletes qualifying for conference and putting themselves in a
position to make all conference,” commented Head Men’s Track Coach Allen
Friesen. “We are peaking at the right time. This will be an important
week of preparation for our athletes and our coaches.”
Dana will return to the Daveny Center next weekend
to take part in the GPAC Conference meet. The meet is scheduled to
start around 9:00am in Lincoln on Saturday. The NAIA Indoor
Championships is set for March 8-10 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
