Higgins Qualifies for Nationals

The Scott Nisely Memorial Track Meet at Doane College was a memorable one a Viking track athlete.  Megan Higgins (FR, Council Bluffs, IA) qualified for the NAIA National Track Meet in Johnson City, TN. 

Higgins placed third in the shot put event with a throw of 42 feet 8.5 inches.  Higgins surpassed the NAIA national qualifying mark by over a foot.  Higgins also placed 13th in the weight throw event.

The team split up this weekend with the throws going to Doane to take part in the Scott Nisely meet,” comment Head Track Coach Allen Friesen.  “It was a good day for the Vikings.  We qualified an individual for nationals.  Megan Higgins automatically qualified in the shot with a throw of 42-08.50 inches.”

Dana will travel to the Wildcat Indoor Open on the campus of Wayne State College on Feb. 9.
