Terry Leads Track at Dordt Brandon Terry (JR, Omaha, NE) won the 55 meter dash at the Dordt College Indoor track meet Saturday afternoon. The Vikings also had several other top ten individual finishes. Derek Hoffman (FR, Edgar, NE) continued to smash the Viking record books in the pole vault. Hoffman increased his indoor record to 13 feet 0 inches with a 7th place finish. Brandon Terry had an incredible afternoon. Terry placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet 11 inches. He also won the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.69 seconds. He also came away with a 4th place finish in the 200 meter dash in 23.74 seconds. “Derek Hoffman for the 3rd time in the last 4 weeks has set a new record in the men’s pole vault with vault of 13-00.00 even,” added Coach Allen Friesen. “This very impressive if you consider that Derek does not get to vault during the week but just do drill work.” Cory Logsdon (SO, Ft. Calhoun, NE) and James Gerold (FR, Hastings, NE) brought home top ten finishes in the 5000 meter run. Logsdon finished in sixth place in 16:07.66 minutes. Teammates Jeremy Barrera (FR, Round Rock, TX) and Phillip Lewis (FR, Denver, CO) came in fifth and sixth place respectively in the 55 meter hurdles. Barrera finished with a time of 6.69 seconds, while Lewis was at 8.38 seconds. Barrera also finished in eighth place in the long jump with a leap of 41 feet 9.5 inches. Robert Fowler (JR, Bellevue, NE) placed fifth in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.81 seconds. Kevin Bane (SO, Oakland, IA) placed third in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:36.31 minutes. Dan Staehlin (FR, Omaha, NE) placed fourth in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:25.79 minutes. “We had a lot of kids get PR this weekend we are peaking at the right time,” commented Head Track Coach Allen Friesen. “I believe and the kids are working harder than ever. We have two weeks before we head to Conference, which gives us time to find tune things.” Dana will travel to the Wildcat Indoor Open on the campus of Wayne State College on February 9.
