Goff Leads Vikings at MLC Throwers Meet
Fremont, Nebraska ~
The Dana College track team took its throwers to a
midweek event in Fremont, Nebraska. Roger Goff (JR, Missouri
Valley, IA) brought home Dana’s only individual title in the javelin.
Goff won the javelin title with a
throw of 171 feet 7 inches on Wednesday. Teammate Beau Viergutz
(JR, Norfolk, NE) came in fourth with a toss of 145 feet 8 inches. Goff
also placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet 4 ½ inches.
Megan Higgins
(FR, Council Bluffs, IA) was the top placer for the
women’s team in the shot put. Higgins, who qualified for the national
indoor shot put event, placed fifth with a throw of 38 feet 6 ¾ inches.

“We had several personal bests’ at
the meet and most of the kids improved from the Neil Moore Classic,”
commented Head Track Coach Allen Friesen. “At this point in the very
short outdoor season things look very promising for our young throwers.”
Dana travels to Wayne, Nebraska to
take part in the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State. Several top
NCAA Division II teams and NAIA teams will be in the field.
