
Vikings Send Five to National Indoor Meet
The Dana College indoor track team
is sending five athletes to the 43rd Annual NAIA Men’s and
28th Annual
Women’s National Meet in Johnson City, Tenn. The Viking
contingent consists of the men’s distance medley team and the women’s
team is sending a representative in the shot put.
The Viking distance medley team is
comprised of Josh McConico (FR, Bonner Springs, KS), Cory
Logsdon (SO, Ft. Calhoun, NE), Andrew Palmblade (SO,
Hastings, NE), and Dan Staehlin (FR, Omaha, NE). The four
qualified for the national meet at the Prairie Wolf Invite with a time
of 10:31.96 minutes.
The lone representative on the
women’s side is Megan Higgins (FR, Council Bluffs, IA) in the
shot put. Higgins qualified for the meet with a throw of 42 feet 8.25
inches at the Scott Nisely Meet on February 2.
The national indoor meet will be
held on the campus of Eastern Tennessee State University.
Action begins on Thursday,
March 6 with the men's heptathlon beginning at 1 p.m. local time and the
women's pentathlon at 1:30 p.m. The running events kick off with the
relays on Thursday at 4:45 p.m. Friday covers both running and field
events while the Championship ceremonies begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
The 2008 awards ceremony will occur at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Dana College is a private, Lutheran
college located in Blair, Nebraska. The Vikings participate in the Great
Plains Athletic Conference and are members of the NAIA. Dana College
is a place where all students actively participate.
