VIKINGS INK TWO ICCC STARS

Blair, Nebraska ~ The Dana College Men’s Track and Cross Country teams announced the signing of two stand-outs from Iowa Central Community College on Wednesday, April 2.  Joining the Viking cross country and track teams this fall are Brandon Rowley (Wesley, IA) and Jeremiah Feine (Lewiston, MN).

Brandon Rowley will run both track and cross country for the Vikings.  Rowley was the 2007 Region Champion in the Steeple Chase at Iowa Central.  He is expected to bring great experience to the cross country team as well.  Rowley is planning on majoring in Business, Economics and Business Education during his career at Dana College.

“Brandon will bring a tremendous amount of experience and leadership to the Dana Vikings track program,” commented Head Coach Marc Bierbaum.  “At Iowa Central, he has shown that he can compete on the college level.  Brandon will make a big impact for us on the track in the steeple.  With the loss of Eric Bane to graduation, Brandon is going to be looked upon to pick up where Eric left off.”

Jeremiah Feine will run track and cross country at Dana College.  Feine was third team All-Region in the 10K race in 2007 at Iowa Central.  He plans to major in Sports Management and Education during his career at Dana College.

“Jeremiah brings a tremendous amount of experience and leadership to our distance program,” commented Coach Bierbaum.  “He is a long distance specialist.  I am looking for him to come right in and battle for a top five spot on the cross country team.  I’m confident that he’ll also make a run at qualifying for nationals in the marathon along with making an impact on the track in the 5k and 10k.”

Both student-athletes will be juniors in the fall.  They are expected to be members of the cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams. “Both men are going to be great leaders for a young Dana team, and I expect them to be valuable student athletes for the Dana College Vikings,” added Bierbaum.

“Both are extremely hard workers and very dedicated to becoming better runners,” commented Iowa Central Community Track Coach Dee Brown. “I am very excited to see what each of them can accomplish under Coach Bierbaum’s guidance while at Dana.”

Marc Bierbaum is in his first year as Head Cross Country coach and second as the Head Women’s Track coach at Dana College.  Dana College is a private, Lutheran college located in Blair, Nebraska.  The Vikings participate in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and are members of the NAIA.  Dana College is a place where all students actively participate.
