Hawley, Terry Leads Viking Track

The Dana College indoor track team traveled to Wayne, Nebraska for the Wildcat Invitational over the weekend.  Brandon Terry (JR, Bellevue, NE) led the Vikings with two top ten finishes.  Andrew Hawley (JR, Lincoln, NE) took home a first place finish.

Beau Viergutz (JR, Norfolk, NE) led the Viking throwers with a 5^th place finish in the shot put.  Viergutz throw of 45 feet 4.25 inches was followed by Wes Dooley (JR, Omaha, NE).  Dooley came in 6^th place with a throw of 43 feet 9.25.  Brandon Terry placed ninth in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet 9.25 inches.  Terry also placed sixth in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.76 seconds.   Andrew Hawley was the top placer on the men’s side by wining the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.55 seconds. 

Laura Waller (FR, Omaha, NE) continued to set records in the pole vault.  Waller, who placed fourth, broke her own Dana College indoor record with a vault of 9 feet 6.25 inches.  Megan Higgins (FR, Council Bluffs, IA) placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 39 feet 6 inches.

The Vikings will travel to Vermillion, South Dakota this weekend to take part in the USD Open.
