            The Dana Viking Volleyball team opened their home schedule on Tuesday with a 31-29, 30-18, 32-30 loss to Briar Cliff (8-2, 2-0 in GPAC).  The loss dropped the Vikings overall record to 1-2 and 0-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. 

“Our blocking struggled throughout the entire match,” Vikings’ Coach Rayna Cain said after the match.  “We played well but need to stay strong and finish matches,” the first year coach went on to say.

Junior Holly Lehmer (Omaha, NE) led the Vikings with 33 set assists while senior middle hitter Darcy Gross (Earling, IA) recorded 12 kills.  Junior outside hitter Ashley Gordon (Dorchester, NE) recorded 9 kills.  Junior Amy Parnell (Clay Center, NE) led Dana with 16 digs while junior Kira Presler (Omaha, NE) tallied 12 digs.

The Vikings next contest is Saturday, September 9, at home against Bethel College.  The match will begin at 3:00 PM.
