Olathe, KS—The Dana Vikings volleyball team
won three games over the weekend at the Mid America Nazarene Tournament
in Olathe, Kansas. Overall the Vikings won three matches and
lost two others taking their season record to 4-8 (0-2 in the Great
Plains Athletic Conference).
The
Vikings defeated Baker University 3-1 (26-30, 30-26, 30-25, 30-24),
Mid America Nazarene University 3-0 (30-22, 30-20, 30-17), and Mount
Marty College 3-0 (30-21, 30-26, 30-27). Dana lost to Central
Methodist University 0-3 and John Brown University 0-3.
Coach
Rayna Cain was especially pleased with the weekend play of senior
Darcy Gross (Earling, IA) and junior Holly Lehmer (Omaha, NE). In
Dana’s three wins Gross combined for a total of 44 kills. She
had a total of 58 kills over the weekend. Lehmer led the Vikings
in assists tallying 41 against Baker, 29 versus Mid America Nazarene,
and 30 against Mount Marty. For the weekend, Lehmer totaled
128 assists.
Dana’s
next match will be at conference rival Midland Lutheran on Wednesday,
September 20, at 7:30 PM.
