The Dana Viking
Volleyball team was defeated by the Concordia Bulldogs 30-24, 30-24,
30-27 on Wednesday night in Blair. The loss dropped the Vikings
record to 1-6 (0-2 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference). The
Bulldogs improved to 9-6 (2-1 in GPAC).
Viking Coach
Rayna Cain tried to stay positive despite the loss. “We
had good aggressive serves and were quick on the offensive end,” Cain
said after the match. “We just let them have several
runs throughout the match. We tried to fight back.”
The Vikings were
once again led by senior defensive specialist Shanan Arnold (Leavenworth,
KS) who had 17 digs and 3 ace serves. Also playing well for
the Vikings were junior setter Holly Lehmer (Omaha, NE) who had
had 26 set assists, freshman Lacie Greiner (Boone, IA) who had
seven kills, senior Darcy Gross (Earling, IA) who had six kills,
and junior outside hitter Amy Parnell (Clay Center, NE) who had
9 digs.
The Vikings will
try to get back on the winning track this weekend as they travel
to Olathe, Kansas, for the Mid-America Nazarene Tournament. Dana’s
next home match is Friday, September 29, against GPAC foe Dordt.
