Nichol Reaches 1,000 Point Plateau
Blair, Nebraska ~ Amy Nichol
(JR, Des Moines, IA) became only the 11th
player in Dana College Women’s Basketball History to score over 1,000
points in a career.
Women’s basketball has been a around
Dana College in one form or another since the 1950’s, but took a hiatus
in the early 1970’s. Dana College brought back women’s basketball as a
varsity sport in 1976. During that time frame only ten other players
have reached the 1,000 point mark. The last player to do so was Kim
Wilken in the 1999-200 season. Wilken ranks second in career points
with 1337 behind the 1520 of Katie Corbitt. Nichol will is currently
12 points out of the top ten in scoring.
Dana is currently 11-12 on the
season. Dana topped last seasons win record with a win on Tuesday night
over the College of St. Mary. Dana will return home on February 6 to
host Concordia University at 7:30pm.
