Dana Falls to Dordt

The Dana College women’s basketball team could not correct things in their last home game of 2007.  The Vikings fell to Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Dordt College, 70-55, on Saturday.

The Vikings never led in the game and were hampered by 28 percent shooting from the floor.  Dana found itself on the wrong end of a 49-37 rebounding margin and hit only one three pointer on the day.

Amy Nichol (SR, Des Moines, Iowa) led the Vikings with 13 points, four blocked shots, five steals, and five rebounds.  Erin Bazata (JR, Randolph, Neb.) had a team-high eight rebounds and added nine points.  Tricia Trotter (SO, Treynor, Iowa) helped out with nine points off the bench.

The Vikings are now 4-9 overall and 0-5 in GPAC action.  Dana will look to break its six-game losing streak over the holiday break.  The Vikings will travel to the Northwood Classic in Palm Beach, Fla., this week.  Dana will square off against Notre Dame College (IN) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CST and host Northwood College on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CST.  Both teams are receiving votes in the national rankings.  The Vikings will not be home until Jan. 5 when they host the University of Sioux Falls at 6 p.m.
