Vikings Defeated By 25 at Hands of Broncos

The Dana College women's basketball team took the floor Wednesday night, hosting the 11th ranked Hastings College Broncos. The Vikings were looking to snap a three-game losing streak and earn their first conference victory of the year.  Unfortunately, the Vikings fell short 87-62.
Hastings quickly jumped out to an early 7-0 lead. The Vikings struggled to keep it close throughout the first half, and trailed at halftime 39-28.
Dana opened the second half on a 12-6 run, narrowing the Bronco lead to just 5 points.  Leading the charge for the Vikings was Erin Bazata (JR, Randolph, NE) who scored 6 straight points during that span to get Dana back in the game.  Hastings struck back with a 16-4 run of their own to stretch their lead to 61-44.  The Vikings were unable to get back on track and suffered their fourth straight loss.  The Broncos had four players in double figures with forward Lindsay Ducey scoring a game-high 19 points.
Jillian Bryant (SO, McCook, NE) had a season-high 16 points for the Vikings. Amy Nichol (SR, Des Moines, IA) chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds.   Tricia Trotter (SO, Treynor, IA) and Kayla Hofstetter each scored 6 points.
A telling statistic shows Hastings' starters outscored the starters for Dana 56-31.
Next up for the Vikings (4-7, 0-3) is a trip to Sioux City, IA to take on nationally ranked (#3) Morningside College. Tip-off is set for 2pm on Saturday Dec. 8th.
