Turnovers Cost Vikings

The Dana College women’s basketball team traveled to Hastings, Neb., to take on the nation’s sixth-rated women’s basketball team, Hastings College.  The Broncos were unwelcoming hosts as they defeated the Vikings, 82-54.

Turnovers were the bane of the Vikings.  Dana turned the ball over 28 times, compared to 14 by Hastings.  The Broncos converted the Vikings’ 28 turnovers into 34 points on the evening.

Amanda Bryant (JR, Treynor, Iowa) led the Vikings with 14 points and nine rebounds.  Chelsey Williams (JR, Tabor, Iowa) added 12 points.  Amy Nichol (SR, Des Moines, Iowa) and Erin Bazata (JR, Randolph, Neb.) each pulled down six rebounds in the loss.

Dana drops to 9-19 overall and 4-12 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.  Hastings improves to 24-4 and 13-3.  The Vikings host third-rated Morningside College (25-2, 15-0) on Saturday at 2 p.m.  This is the last regular season home game of the season for the women’s basketball team.
