Defenders Defeat Dana

The Dana College women’s soccer team dropped its final match of the season Saturday.  This would be the last regular season home game for the Vikings’ three seniors, Danielle Mendoza-Farr (Council Bluffs, Iowa), Emily Wisch (Lincoln, Neb.), and Heather Fischer (Gretna, Neb.).  Dana fell 2-0 to Dordt College

Despite outshooting Dordt 10-6, the Vikings could not put a ball in the back of the net. Mendoza-Farr and Kara Fox (JR, Omaha, Neb.) each had four shots for the Vikings.  Ashley Armstrong (SO, Castle Rock, Colo.) made two saves for the Vikings in the loss.

“It is one of those days when we do everything right and nothing worked,” said Head Coach Shad Beam.  “Our ladies put forth a great effort, but we didn’t get the win.  This is how soccer goes.”

The Vikings are now 11-7 and 8-4 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.  The Vikings finished in fourth place in the final GPAC standings and also are rated fourth in the final NAIA Region III poll.  Dana will host Doane College on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Regional tournament semifinals.
